It was a sad, but beautiful weekend at Lake Frankston. A rare Honey Moon burst over the hill last night and took my breath away. Most of the family gathered on the dock for a closing ceremony. We shared stories and shed some tears. Thank you my dear family for all of the memories of our special place.
I’m content knowing I provided such a wonderful place for my family to gather and for me to enjoy nature. It has filled me up in so many ways. I will miss the sounds of frogs, Chuck’s Will Widows at dusk, the slurry song of the Cardinals at day’s end, the sharp song of the Carolina Wren at daybreak, and the mid-afternoon, melodious serenade of the orange and black Orchard Oriole as it weaves a path through the tree line. The subtle chatter of bluebirds and their quirky wing flutters. The shrill cry of the Yellow-Rumped Warbler. The cry of the pileated woodpecker in the distance and the long rat-ta-tat drilling on hollow trees. Fish jumping. Wind blowing through the pine trees. Rain on the tin roof. The sweet voices of my nieces making music videos, playing Monopoly, talking. Giggling. James sitting on KoKo asking for more ice cream. Laughing. All of the joy that filled this house. So much more laughing than crying. Chin, chin, Noodlin Inn. You have changed my life forever.
